Since the day I could buy my own clothes I've always had a keen interest in fashion and a sense of my own style. I loved “dress ups” at my best friend’s house. Wearing her mother’s lacy slips and high heels! It made me feel very “special”. Style became a vessel for me to express my individuality and personality. It gave me the confidence to outwardly reflect my inner self. Find my voice . Life happens . It can get messy. I’ve been there . I emerged with the getting of “wisdom”.It’s about finding YOU. I am a great believer in creating space for new things to come into your life. This means a wardrobe clean-out before you can bring in the new. It's amazing how good it it feels to de-clutter. Someone's trash is another person's treasure. I love dropping in to my local second hand shop and going to markets to look for new and vintage clothes to add to my collection. Often you will find new clothes with original labels and wonderful edgy vintage pieces. An amazing find was a new pair of black ankle Sergio Rossi boots for $10!
Plan, visit, shop and donate your pre-loved fashion. Shopping is fun and an adventure. Visit pre-loved fashion hot spots such as Smith Family, Vinnies, Salvos , Anglicare and Australian Red Cross. Take a drive to country towns where there are undiscovered treasures. Donate your good quality clothes and pick up a whole new wardrobe. Help tackle the war on waste is by donating pre-loved clothing to not-for -profit organisations like Dress for Success Sydney and Suited to Success in Brisbane, who help people re-enter the workforce dressed with confidence.
I'm a supporter and occasional 'dresser' for Dress for Success, Marrickville which empowers women to succeed in getting a job and become financially independent by providing a network of support, professional attire, training and the development tools to help them thrive in work and in life.
Swap Frock
Attend or organise a clothes swap. Organise your own clothes swap event with friends or colleagues and make a fun occasion of it. Tell your family, friends & work colleagues you are cleaning out your wardrobe and ask if anyone wants to swap. Have a fun day with a group swap. You may be surprised by how many people are interested!
